Affordable Health Insurance Makes Life A Lot Easier

It has been shown that most of those who are in need of affordable health insurance are young. One study from the journal Health Affairs found that roughly 18 percent of employees who were offered coverage declined it. Not surprisingly, more than half were under 35 years of age. And 94 percent said their health ranged from good to excellent. But while they have access to employer-provided coverage, those who decline it usually do so because they can't afford the employee portion of the premium. And most of them make too much money to qualify for government programs such as Medicaid, which is why affordable health insurance is needed especially for this group.

We Need To Development More Affordable Health Insurance Plans

According to a U.S. Census report about 17 million Americans have good incomes but choose not to obtain affordable health insurance coverage. And the number of uninsured Americans who earn those higher income levels is now rising significantly faster than those at lower
income levels. In addition, about 25 percent of the uninsured are eligible for a public insurance program but don't enroll. Minorities are in great need of affordable health insurance as the Census Bureau reports non-Hispanic whites have an uninsured rate of 11.3 percent; blacks and Hispanics face a much higher uninsured rate - 19.6 percent and 32.7 percent, respectively.

Where Are The Affordable Health Insurance Plans Going To Come From?

Blacks and Hispanics are more likely to be in need of affordable health insurance than whites. According to the U.S. Census this discrepancy may be caused by a variety of factors including lower average incomes, a disproportionate tendency to work in service sector jobs that often do not offer health insurance, and immigrants who come from
countries where people typically don't buy health insurance. Because these populations often don't have many assets, affordable health insurance and limited benefit policies might be much more attractive than more expensive, comprehensive policies. Nevertheless there is still an overall need for more affordable health insurance plans that will attract the enter public.
